2011
Mechanical, first.
I graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
I design building automation graphics at QA Graphics and build independent tools for the BAS community through BASidekick.

From equipment rooms to interfaces.
2011
I graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
2011–13
I spent two years in HVAC testing and balancing, getting hands-on with the systems I’d studied and seeing how buildings behave in the real world.
2013–now
I joined QA Graphics creating BAS graphics for controls companies. I managed the graphics outsourcing department for a time, then moved into a senior role after relocating and staying on remotely.
Now
AI gave me a practical way to turn more of my own ideas into software. I use it for solo projects and at QA Graphics, and I built BASidekick as an independent place for the BAS community. I’ve also found that I really enjoy the visual side of the work. I have no formal design training, but I care a lot about how things look and whether they make sense.
Work, projects, and the occasional thought.
Outside the work.
I live in Tucson with my wife and son and spend as much time with them as I can. I also like reading, hiking when the weather cooperates, watching Formula 1, and playing video games.
